Judy Chin Zurück
Judy Chin was born in Taipei, Taiwan. Starting at four years old, she studied piano with a well-renowned Austrian pianist and composer, Robert Scholz.
At fourteen, she attended the "Mozarteum" in Salzburg, Austria, from which she graduated as a concert artist with honors in the class of Kurt Neumuller, and holds a Doctorate in musicology "Magister Artium", as well as a teacher degree. She then obtained the "Meisterklassendiplom" from Munich's Hochschule, Germany, in Alfons Kontarsky's class. She subsequently perfected her skill with Tatjana Nikolaeva, Leon Fleisher, Alexis Weissenberg, and studied in London with Maria Curcio, assistant of the legendary Arthur Schnabel, who was himself student of Leschetizky.

After having won the Bösendorfer Wien Prise, Judy Chin has won awards of international competitions:
”Kurt Leimer”, Austria, First Prize
”Viotti-Valesia”, Italy, Second Prize
”V.Bellini”, Italy, First Prize.

These awards were followed by an active concert career in Europe and Asia, featuring recitals, performances with orchestras (Mozarteum Orchestra, Musica Viva, Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Taiwan Symphonic Orchestra), and chamber music (piano-violin duo with Sir Yehudi Menuhin). Judy Chin regularly performs for radio and television. Following the successof her CD "L’Europe préromantique" (Beethoven, Schubert, Reicha) on the Quantum label, she released a recording of Russian music for piano four hands with Jean-Marie Cottet: “Saint Pertersburg, Les Derniers Romantiques” (Rachmaninov, Mussorgsky, Balakirev, Arensky). The duet, four hands as well as two pianos, has been created in 1988.Her mastery of the established repertoire has not kept her from championing contemporary music, which she performs with equal pleasure. In 1999 Jean-Louis Petit dedicated her "Eclipse" for piano solo, which she premiered in Austria and in France.

Concert reviews have praised her interpretations: "Marvellous talent and mastery of the romantic repertoire: the sonatas of Chopin, Liszt, and Schumann. She has the ability to articulate sweeping musical lines while focusing on the smallest details." (Italy).

Formerly a professor at the Salzburg Mozarteum and at the Köln Musikhochschule, Judy Chin is since 1992 a tenured professor at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris (CRR). From 2006 to 2009 she was appointed professor in Shih-Chien University and Taiwan University of Arts, Taipei, Taiwan.

She regularly participates in Erasmus Programs, for European exchanges with colleagues (recently Germany and Austria) in teaching and chamber music. Her students are frequent laureates of multiple piano competitions.

She is invited to sit on juries of numerous national and international piano competitions: Meknes-Marocco, Wuppertal Piano Duo and München Klavierpodium in Germany, Chopin Budapest, Chopin Taipei, Medoc-Aquitaine, Steinway Paris, Flame Paris.

Judy Chin regularly gives master classes in Europe and in Asia. She has taught in prestigious international music academies, including Flaine, Nancy, Mérignac. Since 2002, she teaches every year in the International Summer Academy of Nice, as well as Musicalp in Courchevel, Flaine; the Euro Arts in 2009 in Leipzig, and in 2010 in Jeju, Korea.

Fluent languages: French, German, English, Chinese.
