György Lakatos (Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music) graduated at Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in 1987. Since 1985 he has been principal bassoon player of the Hungarian State Opera and the Orchestra of the Budapest Philharmonic Society. Since 1987 he has been professor of Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. In 1987 he was elected Musician of the Year at the Hungarian State Opera, next year he won 1st prize at the Bassoon Competition of the Hungarian Radio. Between 1993 and 1997 he was awarded the Artisjus Prize 4 times for the interpretation of Hungarian contemporary music. In 1996 he was awarded the Liszt Prize, next year he worked in Paris by winning the Eötvös scholarship. He has numerous CD recordings both as soloist and chamber musician. He has given concerts, participated in competitions or has been guest professor in almost every European country and he was on tour in America and Israel as well.
